Winter temperatures bring the Taiwan public to Yilan’s hot springs, where many establishments provide a much-needed respite from daily stress.
With the cold of winter arriving in Taiwan, Yilan’s Qingshui Geothermal Park is crowded with people. Among the many facilities where people can warm up in the soaking pools, the No. 9 Hotel hot spring has recently changed its bath to mixed-gender, attracting couples and families.
One bather happily commented that the change from the original separate pools for men and women is much more convenient for families.
Crowds of people on weekends and holidays come to participate in activities, eat hot spring eggs, and dip their feet in the footbath pools. Yilan’s Qingshui Geothermal Park is a well-known scenic spot with 95-100 degree natural springs forming white steam rising upwards against the greenery.
On the other side of the county, Jiaoxi is also very lively. The Jiaoxi hot spring season began on December 6, though the opening ceremony officially took place on December 8, and there are already many tourists coming to bathe. One man and his family say the pools are very comfortable for soaking and that everyone should come to experience them.
The hot spring season increases the tourism and accommodation industry revenue in the area by 10 to 20% on weekdays and 30 to 40% on weekends or holidays. As the weather gets cooler, there’s no better way to relieve stress, recover from daily fatigue, and soak up some time with loved ones.
