The popular messaging app Line has revealed insights into how Taiwanese users are connecting in 2024. According to data released on Tuesday, Line users in Taiwan make 100 million voice and video calls every day.

According to Line’s internal data, as of November 30 this year, the most frequently used emoji in chatrooms is the thumbs-up, which remains a popular choice for quick communication. Users also show a habit of sharing photos and videos, with peak activity occurring between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. when people often start their day.

Line’s desktop version has also gained significant traction, with over 5 million users in Taiwan—the highest rate among Line’s global markets. The desktop platform is favored for work-related communication, offering faster typing and efficiency compared to smartphones.

Line’s data also shows that, on average, Taiwanese users spend about one hour per day on the app, checking messages, sharing images, and using features like video and voice calls.
