According to Czech media, starting 2025 Taiwan should join the list of countries that do not require papers to work in the Czech Republic. The move still needs to pass through the cabinet review and approval process, though the Taiwan Labor Ministry said that it does not expect the proposal to encounter any obstacles.

Novinky.cz reported that the Czech Labor Ministry had originally planned to have Taiwan join the list in July this year, but because the Czech Republic does not officially recognize Taiwan as an independent country, an amendment to include "independent jurisdictions" needed to be implemented.

The amendment was approved by senators this week and is expected to take effect in January next year. Countries that were added to the list in July include Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Israel and Singapore.

Taiwan’s Labor Ministry emphasized that the proposal will have a positive impact. It said that exempting Taiwanese job seekers from work permit requirements will reduce the administrative burden on employers and accelerate their entry into the labor market.
