China's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) reiterated its stance on the Taiwan issue following comments by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who stated that the international community does not consider Taiwan solely as China’s internal matter but as “our business.” TAO spokesperson Chen Binhua (陳斌華) responded on Wednesday that resolving the Taiwan issue is a matter for Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and should not involve external interference.

Blinken highlighted Taiwan's significance in an interview with Foreign Affairs, saying a crisis in Taiwan would have global repercussions, impacting trade and economies. He said 50% of global commercial container traffic passes through the Taiwan Strait daily, and 70% of microchip production relies on Taiwan.

Chen firmly asserted that Taiwan is part of China, and accused Taiwan's independence separatist activities and external interference of being the biggest threats to peace in the Taiwan Strait. He called on the U.S. to adhere to the One China Principle and the three PRC-U.S. Joint Communiqués, oppose Taiwan independence, and support Taiwan's peaceful reunification with China.
