In response to growing awareness for gender equality and practicality, China Airlines debuts pant-style uniforms, combining practicality with elegance.
Among domestic airlines, China Airlines’ uniforms have long been praised for their elegant and graceful image, made in the qipao-style, also known as the mandarin gown. However, in response to growing awareness of gender equality and practical considerations for work convenience and safety during emergencies, the airline introduced new pant-style uniforms, which debuted this year. Flight attendants are praising the pants for their practicality and added warmth.
The women’s uniform features black pants, a vest, and a jacket, preserving the airline’s signature color-block design. China Airlines highlighted that flight attendants often work in confined aircraft cabins, standing for extended periods and frequently bending or crouching. Pants provide significantly greater ease of movement in such conditions. Additionally, the airline allows flight attendants to freely choose between pants and skirts for each shift.
China Airlines is the second domestic airline, after Tigerair, to adopt pant-style uniforms. EVA Air and STARLUX Airlines have announced plans to follow suit, signaling a broader shift toward more diverse and practical uniform options that enhance mobility while maintaining a professional appearance.
