President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) presided over the 61st graduation ceremony of the Justice Ministry Investigation Bureau's pre-service training on Tuesday. He highlighted the critical role the graduates will play in safeguarding Taiwan’s future and maintaining its security.

In his remarks to the graduates, Lai emphasized understanding the significance of their work and recognizing their responsibility for national security and social stability. He urged them to actively resist China's efforts to infiltrate and annex Taiwan, as well as to combat crime to ensure societal stability.

Lai acknowledged that while the graduates come from diverse backgrounds, they all share a strong commitment to their duties. He reminded them that power can often be a source of temptation and cautioned those who will hold public power to remain true to their ideals, despite any threats or inducements.

Lai also highlighted the ever-evolving nature of criminal tactics in response to societal changes. He expressed his hope that the graduates would continually improve their professional skills and remain vigilant in facing future challenges.

Taiwan’s Investigation Bureau, under the Ministry of Justice, is at the forefront of criminal investigations and is responsible for safeguarding national security and preventing major criminal activities. Given the political and economic dynamics both domestically and internationally, the bureau is also tasked with countering China’s infiltration efforts, protecting trade secrets, and strengthening the nation's cybersecurity.
