The independent military media outlet "Defense Blog" cited Ukrainian activist Vadym Labas, who claimed on social media that a Taiwanese company named TRC supplied servomechanisms to Russia, allegedly enhancing the accuracy of military devices, including bombs. Other foreign reports similarly alleged that a Taiwan-based company specializing in traction control systems (TRC) sold products to Russia for use in military explosives.

The Foreign Ministry (MOFA) issued a written statement on Thursday, firmly denying these allegations. After learning of the reports on Monday, MOFA instructed the Taiwan Representative Office in Poland to contact Ukrainian authorities for clarification. Ukrainian officials responded promptly, suggesting the issue involved Chinese and Russian entities counterfeiting Taiwanese products. These parties allegedly labeled components with the TRC brand to mislead investigators as part of a disinformation campaign.

MOFA highlighted that Vadym Labas himself later rectified his statement on Facebook, adding that Taiwan strongly supports Ukraine, and that further investigation revealed the TRC name in the document was likely a cover for a Chinese business trying to circumvent sanctions while defaming Taiwan.

Since the Russia-Ukraine war began, Taiwan has provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine and joined democratic nations and unions, including the U.S. and EU, in sanctioning Russia. MOFA urged the international community to remain alert to gray zone activities aimed at undermining Taiwan.
