President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) Taiwan Global Pathfinders Initiative is a flagship program aimed at empowering young people, with NT$10 billion (approximately US$320 million) allocated over the next four years. On Friday, the Ministry of Education held a press conference to launch the initiative, during which President Lai shared his vision of fostering a better and greater nation by encouraging youth to realize their dreams.
The President outlined three key aspects of the initiative. First, as part of his National Project of Hope, the program is a national-level effort involving inter-ministerial collaboration, ensuring comprehensive support. Second, the initiative targets individuals aged 15 to 30, providing them with national backing to pursue their aspirations and enabling personal achievements while contributing to societal advancement. Third, the program serves as an extension of education, guaranteeing opportunities for personal growth and skill development regardless of a family’s economic situation.
President Lai emphasized that young people are the future of the nation and the foundation of its development. He encouraged youths to apply, assuring them that resources, such as guidance on proposal writing and presentation skills, are available. He pledged that the government will refine the initiative yearly based on feedback from participants to ensure continuous improvement.
