While planes are struggling to land in dense fog affecting the western half of Taiwan, one Ferris wheel remains operational to the awe of theme park goers.
Video script:
A Ferris wheel breaks through a thick layer of fog in Taichung, rotating to expose cars to a view above the clouds. At 126 meters tall, the Sky Dream, a Lihpao Resort amusement park feature, is the tallest Ferris wheel in Taiwan. It also serves as an observatory for the weather ahead.
Shrouded in fog this week, some planes have been unable to land at the Taichung International Airport due to a visibility of less than 200 meters.
The low visibility is expected to stretch across the western half of Taiwan, especially from Changhua to Kaohsiung this week. The Central Weather Administration’s Taichung station director, Wu Chia-jung (吳佳蓉), stated that the weather has been changing rapidly, and more moisture and fog is expected to form.
The station is also advising the public to be aware of dense fog while driving, which mostly occurs in the early morning.
