The Defense Ministry reported the presence of Chinese military activity, including two Chinese balloons, operating in the areas around Taiwan on Tuesday.
It said a total of 27 aircraft and ships were detected, comprising 12 PLA military aircraft, 14 PLA Navy vessels, and 1 official ship. Of these, 10 aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern air defense identification zone (ADIZ). The ministry’s surveillance period began at 6 a.m. Monday and ended at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the ministry’s activity diagram, three Chinese military aircraft were detected between 6:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. One crossed the median line into Taiwan's southwestern airspace. Between 10:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Monday, two Chinese military aircraft were detected in Taiwan's northern airspace, and between 7:10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday, seven Chinese military aircraft and drones were detected in Taiwan's southwestern airspace.
The ministry also tracked the presence of two Chinese balloons. The first one was detected at 6:10 a.m. Monday, 65 nautical miles northwest of Keelung City, flying at an altitude of 20,000 feet. The second one was spotted at 11:10 a.m. Monday, 70 nautical miles northwest of Keelung City, flying at an altitude of 20,000 feet.
The ministry says it is closely monitoring the situation and that air and naval patrols were deployed with land-based missile systems to respond to the activities.
