Taiwan’s Institute for National Defense and Security Research has invited scholars and experts from the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Latvia to exchange views on societal defense resilience. Amid recent US-Russia negotiations for a ceasefire in the Russo-Ukraine War, discussions have emerged regarding the direction of U.S. foreign policy. European Values Center for Security Policy Executive Director Jakub Janda stated that he does not believe Trump will betray Taiwan based on economic factors and America's global alliance relationships.

Janda explains that if the U.S. were to betray Taiwan, a portion of the American economy would suffer as it partially depends on Taiwan. Additionally, if this were to occur, essentially all of America's alliance relationships would be at risk, not only in the Indo-Pacific region, because of how it would erode trust in American alliances.

The Taiwanese government is promoting the establishment of societal defense resilience through dialogues with various European experts, including representatives from Estonia’s International Centre for Defence and Security (ICDS) and Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation. The delegation features Frank Jüris, Ieva Ilves, and Marek Kohv, specialists in security, cyber policy, and resilience.

Ieva Ilves, an advisor at Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation, urged European countries to focus on their own security rather than speculating about U.S. foreign policy changes. She emphasized the need for nations to strengthen their self-defense capabilities and uphold democratic values.
