Last year, Czech media revealed that their Labor Ministry would simplify the process to allow Taiwanese nationals to work in the country without a work visa. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry stated on Tuesday that the changes will take effect during the first quarter of this year.

In order to reduce the administrative burden on employers and speed up the entry of foreign nationals into the labor market, the Czech government is removing the necessity for Taiwanese citizens holding another visa or residence permit to additionally apply for a work visa.

In a recent interview with foreign media, Deputy Foreign Minister François Chih-chung Wu (吳志中) highlighted the willingness countries such as Lithuania and Czechia have demonstrated to openly strengthen relations with Taiwan despite pressure from China.

Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry said it welcomes the change and thanked the Czech government for the decision, noting that it will help promote exchanges between Czechia and Taiwan, especially that of professional talents.
