In response to recent statements from American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Director Raymond Greene, Defense Minister Wellington Koo (顧立雄) confirmed this Tuesday that Taiwan and the United States will jointly build a democratic and China-free supply chain in advanced technology fields, particularly drones.

Koo emphasized the importance of the ability to independently produce drones for Taiwan’s defense operations. He said that private enterprises and public institutions such as the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology have already reached research and development targets related to drone technology and components.

Koo added that the Defense Ministry is also planning to amend the Criminal Code of the Armed Forces to tighten countermeasures toward Chinese infiltration. In the future, active military personnel who express loyalty to the CCP through words, actions, writing, or other means will be sentenced to between one and seven years of fixed-term imprisonment.
