The Tourism Administration’s East Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters has partnered with the National Development Council, the East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Headquarters, and local governments to boost sports tourism.

It will run a series of events built upon its sports tourism brand initiative, Sport Tourism East Coast of Taiwan, which includes major events like the Xiuguluan River Rafting Triathlon and the Changbin Double Waves King Kong Marathon.

East Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters Director Lin Wei-ling (林維玲), says this year’s event highlights the Tropic of Cancer as a unique travel belt, offering rich biodiversity and a mild climate. Lin adds that the Changbin Double Waves King Kong Marathon, Xiuguluan River Rafting Triathlon, and Highway 11 Cycling Route are all held along this belt.

This year marks the 10th Changbin Double Waves King Kong Marathon, kicking off on May 4, and the Tourism Administration will hold a pre-event camp in Changbin, combining jogging, sports recovery, and local toxin-free cuisine to help participants perform at their best. Meanwhile, the Xiuguluan River Rafting Triathlon on June 8, will introduce an electric-assisted bike category for the first time, hoping to attract more participants.
