More bodies were found on Saturday as rescue workers continued their search for the passengers on board the TransAsia Airways plane.
The plane crashed into a river in Taipei earlier this week. As of Saturday afternoon, 39 bodies had been recovered. 15 of the 58 people on board survived, but 4 are still missing. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
The on-site commander of the search mission, Lin Wan-fa, said the search effort will intensify during the day because weather conditions have improved.
This is the second TransAsia Airways crash in less than a year, and both crashes involved the same make of plane: the French-built ATR 72. On Saturday Taiwan’s civil aviation authorities ordered all of the company’s 71 pilots who fly ATR planes to re-take tests on operating the aircraft.
