Reports from Reuters indicate that TSMC will oversee Intel’s foundry business division, with TSMC's stake not exceeding 50% in the proposed joint venture. The report states that TSMC has suggested this arrangement not only to Nvidia but also to AMD, Broadcom, and Qualcomm.
When questioned at the Legislature on Friday, Taiwan's Economic Minister J.W. Kuo (郭智輝) refrained from commenting on unverified matters. He said TSMC is not a state-owned enterprise, with government investment only reaching 6%, which makes it inappropriate for the Economic Ministry to interfere with TSMC's management decisions.
Kuo stated that all foreign investments must be reported to the ministry’s Department of Investment Review for approval before moving forward.
