President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) met with the Taiwan Hakka Alliance Association on Monday and praised their dedication to preserving the Hakka language and identity.
During the meeting, Lai thanked the association for promoting Hakka culture and working with him to jointly plan the blueprint for Hakka development during the 2024 election. Lai gave updates on his “Six Hakka Arrows” policy nearly a year after its launch, outlining some key achievements such as the development of a Hakka input method for mobile and desktop devices, the creation of the HA-FOOD brand, and support for Hakka village revitalization with entrepreneurship subsidies.
Lai says the government is committed to enhancing the global visibility of Hakka culture through various media and international platforms, announcing collaboration on a special Discovery Channel program to promote the Hakka language and culture internationally. He says future initiatives include forming a Hakka Youth Advisory Committee and hosting a global Hakka youth exchange camp.
Lai urges the public to continue working with the government to increase awareness and appreciation to preserve the Hakka heritage.
