The Defense Ministry reported Chinese military activity occurring in the areas around Taiwan on Tuesday.

It said a total of 29 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) assets were detected, including 21 military aircraft, six naval vessels, and two official Chinese ships. Of these, 20 aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering Taiwan’s northern, southwestern, and southeastern air defense identification zone (ADIZ). The ministry’s surveillance period began at 6 a.m. Monday and ended at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the ministry’s activity diagram, PLA aircraft were detected at various intervals throughout the day. The largest incursion occurred on Monday between 1:10 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. when 13 aircraft crossed the median line.

The ministry says it is closely monitoring the situation and that air and naval patrols were deployed with land-based missile systems to respond to the activities.
