The Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday plans for this year’s commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of World War II and the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War. The theme of this year’s celebrations focuses on “defending our homeland," highlighting concepts of military-civilian unity, the youth standing up for the nation, and working with allies.

Among the planned activities are a military photography exhibit, a commemorative concert, and a carnival. The photography exhibit will showcase rare historical images, alongside contemporary photographs of soldiers protecting Taiwan at 34 bus stops across Taipei. This will be the first time that the event is held outdoors in collaboration with the Taipei City Government.

The Defense Ministry says it will continue to partner with Kuai Kuai snack company to release three co-branded products. The snack’s themes will feature the role of Taiwan in World War II. Future collaborations with the domestic sports drink brand Super Supau are also in place for special releases during Armed Forces Day scheduled for September 3.
