Walking through an underground parking garage, you’ll see various vehicles, but one in particular is bound to take you by surprise.
Video script:
A massive remote-controlled F-14 Tomcat fighter jet caused quite a stir when it was temporarily parked in a residential building's underground parking area. The extraordinary aircraft belongs to John Chen (陳宏洋), chairman of a remote control aviation model association, the NTGCA, who piqued online curiosity after leaving the impressive model in a parking spot.
An impressive 3.6 meters long with a 3.5-meter wingspan, the jet weighs 50 kilograms and is currently Taiwan's largest remote-controlled aircraft. Valued at around NT$700,000 (over US$21,000), this meticulously crafted model is a replica of a real fighter jet, powered by two kerosene-driven engines. The jet also requires careful handling and dismantling just to be transported.
Chen explained that he was exhausted after a long day and temporarily stored the aircraft in his parking space, not anticipating the attention it would attract.
For enthusiasts like Chen, operating these models resembles real aviation procedures, from takeoff to landing.
The jet is set for its maiden flight in early April, and is sure to impress even more once it takes to the skies.
