Chinese influencer’s deportation a human rights violation: Chinese Association for Human Rights

The Chinese Association for Human Rights (CAHR) says Chinese influencer Liu Zhenya’s (劉振亞) deportation from Taiwan is a human rights violation, citing international human rights treaties and agreements, highlighting that the government is depriving her children of the right to be with their mother. Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Lue Jen-der (呂建德) responded to the claims this Thursday.

The CAHR cites the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, asking the government to not deprive her of her residence rights. The CAHR says this is in violation of the principle of proportionality and is in violation of basic human rights.

The National Immigration Agency’s decision to deport Liu was legal and in line with Mainland Affairs Council regulations, according to Lue, who also said that basic national policies and international practices do not allow for the violent overthrow of democracy and freedom.

Liu’s videos on her “Yaya in Taiwan” (亞亞在台灣) account included her children, who made comments such as “We are all Chinese Taiwanese,” and, “I look forward to returning to the motherland.” Lue stressed that the government will not allow children to be used as united front tools.
