Chinese spouses Xiaowei (小微) and Enqi (恩綺), who advocated for military annexation of Taiwan on social media, have been ordered to leave the country before the end of day Monday or face forced deportation. Interior Minister Liu Shih-fang (劉世芳) confirmed on Monday that one woman has already booked a flight departing Taiwan, and the other is still hesitating.

Liu said she could not confirm which of the two had not yet booked a flight, but noted that the woman has a good rapport with the Taiwan Affairs Office in China, and has been in close communication with them over the past ten days. Liu suggested that she may book a flight before the deadline.

Both Xiaowei and Enqi hired lawyers to file appeals and administrative lawsuits, but Liu noted that this doesn’t affect the restrictions placed on the individuals, so they must still leave before the end of Monday.

In addition to social media influencer Liu Zhenya (劉振亞), all three Chinese nationals had their residence permits terminated by the National Immigration Agency this month, and were given 10 days to leave voluntarily or face forced deportation.
