Faith and tradition unite Taiwan as crowds gather for Mazu’s protection and blessings.

As part of the Mazu pilgrimage, Taichung’s Dajia Jenn Lann Temple distributed free pacifiers blessed by the “Prince” deity. Thousands of parents lined up, even circling the temple basement, to receive the limited-edition pacifiers.
Parents with a maternity handbook or a child under three were eligible. Many then took this to the incense burner and passed it over three times for Mazu’s blessing.
Over at Miaoli’s Baishatun Gongtian Temple, registration for the Mazu pilgrimage saw long queues stretching for kilometers. The temple estimates that over 130,000 people have registered so far, with the total number of participants expected to exceed 200,000.
These events only prove that as far as devoted followers are concerned, no one is “pacified” until they receive Mazu’s blessings!
