Czech Chamber of Deputies Deputy Speaker Jan Bartošek arrived in Taiwan this Sunday to meet with Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu (吳釗燮), and other ministries and commissions including the Digital Ministry. Bartošek will also deliver a keynote speech at Cybersec 2025, a conference exhibition dedicated to digital threats and security.

The Foreign Ministry highlights Bartošek’s expertise in security issues, including his membership in the Commission for Military Intelligence and the Commission for the Oversight of the Civil Intelligence Service. The ministry says it welcomes Bartošek’s return to Taiwan with his rich experience in forming Czech national cybersecurity policy and promoting international cybersecurity cooperation following his previous visit in 2016.

Bartošek is a loyal friend of Taiwan, according to the Foreign Ministry, which notes he has long supported Taiwan’s participation in international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and has received multiple Taiwanese delegations in Czechia.

The Foreign Ministry says both nations share the values of democracy and freedom, and that it will continue to deepen the Taiwan-Czech democratic partnership on the basis of mutual trust, reciprocity, and mutual benefit to respond to the threats and challenges posed by authoritarian countries.
