To address Taiwan's growing demand for mid- to high-level professionals in key industries, the Education Ministry has partnered with the National Development Council to launch the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE). The goal is to build a pipeline of skilled talent to support industry development for Taiwanese companies.

INTENSE encourages Taiwanese universities to develop degree programs tailored to the needs of major industrial sectors, attract more international students, and enhance incentives for students to stay in Taiwan post-graduation.

INTENSE Director Jywe Wen-yuh (覺文郁) said the initiative attracted at least 80 Vietnamese students in its first year. Starting this fall semester, 26 Taiwanese universities will offer specialized programs under the initiative with the aim of attracting more than 800 international students.

During an admissions briefing in Hanoi on Monday, Taiwan's Representative to Vietnam, Liu Shih-chung (劉世忠) said that nearly 40,000 Vietnamese students studied in Taiwan by the end of 2024. He said this highlights the strong academic collaboration between Taiwanese and Vietnamese institutions.

Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology Huynh Dang Chinh praised the INTENSE program for its clear training goals of cultivating talent, aligning with Vietnam’s urgent need for high-quality professionals. He says Taiwan is not only a strategic partner with an excellent academic environment but also an attractive study destination thanks to its close industry collaboration.
