The Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Wednesday the joint statement from China and Vietnam that stated Taiwan is a part of China.

China's President Xi Jinping visited Vietnam from April 14 to 15 to meet with its top leaders, Communist Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and Vietnam’s President Lương Cường. In their joint statement, the Vietnamese side affirmed its adherence to the One China Policy and stated that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory

Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry denounced this claim calling it a serious distortion of facts and criticized the Chinese Communist Party for its continued efforts to undermine Taiwan's sovereignty.

The ministry’s statement reaffirms that the Republic of China (Taiwan) is a sovereign and independent country and that it is not subordinate to the People's Republic of China (PRC).

It emphasizes that the Chinese Communist regime has never ruled Taiwan and that any narrative attempting to distort Taiwan's status will not change the internationally recognized status quo across the Taiwan Strait. The ministry also urges the international community not to be misled by China’s false claims.
