Several Taiwanese teams are taking home awards from the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition in Houston, Texas, USA. Shulin High School’s Team iDeer was named Rising All-Star, a joint team from National Beimen Senior High School in Tainan received the Judges' Award, and a joint team from Taichung Municipal Shinan Junior High School won the Robot Performance Award in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge. Shinan instructor Chiu Chun-yuan (邱浚源) also won the Best Coach Award.
The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition was founded in 1989 and hosts events both in the U.S. and internationally. The 12 teams from Taiwan competed against more than 1,000 from around the world.
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston Director Hsiao Yi-fang (蕭伊芳) passed on congratulatory messages from President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) praising the Taiwanese teams for shining in the world-class competition.
