The 2025 Osaka World Expo is underway and has seen more than 920,000 visitors since opening on April 13, according to publicity director Sachiko Yoshimura on Tuesday.
The expo is an international event aiming to bring together countries, companies, and organizations to showcase ideas, culture, and technology. For Taiwan, it is an opportunity to share its innovations and strengthen cultural ties, as it has been named one of the main focus areas in Japan’s overseas promotion strategy.
Organizers have set an ambitious goal of 28.2 million total visitors to the expo. To help bring in more international guests, it is focusing promotional efforts in countries where Japan is already popular, including Taiwan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, and the United States. Yoshimura says these countries make up nearly half of all foreign visitors to Japan.
Yoshimura says she was impressed by the “Tech World” business pavilion, set up by Taiwan’s Yushan Digital Technology Corporation. She says the exhibit, which blends nature and cutting-edge tech, allowed her to learn a lot and felt like taking a trip through Taiwan.
The expo runs until October 13 and welcomes visitors from across the world.
