Radio Taiwan International (Rti) and the Soochow University School of Business jointly hosted the "100 days of Trump in office; Is there a new world order?" forum on Tuesday to discuss the politics and economics of Donald Trump’s first days in his second term as U.S. president. Rti Chairman Cheryl Lai (賴秀如) stated that important domestic think tanks, bank directors, foreign trade associations, and government officials are rarely brought together in such numbers to share their opinions.
Several presentations focusing on economic analyses were given by Taiwan External Trade Development Council Chairman James C. F. Huang (黃志芳), Taiwan Institute of Economic Research Chairman Wu Chung-Shu (吳中書), Chung-Hua Institution Economic Research President Lien Hsien-ming (連賢明), and others.
In his speech, Soochow University Vice President Wang Shih-ho (王世和) emphasized that the Trump 2.0’s tariffs impact on the world is beyond imagination. He said he expects Trump to continue driving great change in the next few years, to which countries around the world will have to respond. Wang underscored that he hopes through this forum experts and scholars will gather together to share their wisdom and resources, bringing a better future for Taiwan.
