Former Vice-President Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) is set to speak on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA), which will be held in Geneva on May 19.

The World Taiwan Foundation announced on Tuesday that it will co-host the “WHA Global Forum - Reshaping Universal Health Coverage” on May 20 to show Taiwan's strength to the world, with speakers including the former vice president and others.

Chen will present Taiwan’s National Health Insurance system, now in its 30th year, highlighting advances in chronic care, AI-driven risk assessment, and Taiwan’s unique cancer drug fund. He says the integration of prevention, treatment, and palliative care shows that Taiwan is achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Also speaking is Professor Vincent Rollet, a lecturer at Kaohsiung's Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, who will discuss the EU’s role in promoting global health equity.

A 24-member youth delegation from the Taiwan Healthcare Youth Alliance will also attend the forum. It will represent fields such as medicine, pharmacy, and public health. The group will also meet with global health leaders to demonstrate young Taiwanese professionals' commitment to international health issues.
