The 2025 Taipei International Computer Show, or COMPUTEX, opens this Tuesday in Nangang with an “AI Next” theme, and will focus on AI and robotics, next-gen tech, and future mobility. At a press conference Monday, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chair James Huang (黃志芳) spoke on the importance of the AI-focused show taking place in Taiwan in a preview of the collaborative thinking foreshadowed for this year’s event.
Huang emphasized the groundbreaking nature of this year’s AI’s breakthroughs– pointing out that today, people are developing AI capable of learning from experience, allowing these programs to develop skills and build personality like humans do. With such developments, affordable, personality and intelligence-driven robotic partners could soon become a reality everywhere from offices and hospitals to our own homes, according to Huang. He underlined that the world is moving towards smart, personalized, and meaningful interactions and partnerships between people and AI, and that Taiwan is at the center of that movement.
Taiwan is driving the global shift in AI with its leadership in semiconductors and innovation, according to Huang. He compared the present to 40 years ago, when TSMC founder Morris Chang (張忠謀) imagined a world where semiconductors were omnipresent, leading him to develop TSMC and change the course of Taiwanese and global history. Today, Huang said, we should consider what the future world will need.
Taipei Computer Association Chairman Paul S.L. Peng (彭双浪) also emphasized Taiwan’s strong position in the AI era, pointing to its semiconductor supply chain, cutting-edge hardware-software integration, and real-world solutions for problems such as smart aging. He also said that industry giants such as NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD all recognize Taiwan’s importance in the sector, making COMPUTEX the gateway to explore new applications, and connect with valuable partners.
This year’s COMPUTEX event will take place from Tuesday to Friday, bringing together 1,400 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions. It features keynote speeches from notable tech giants including NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Foxconn, and MediaTek among other notable events. The event is well known for closely following global technology innovation and industry trends, as well as bringing together some of the sector's most influential players.
