President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) stated that the government will continue investing resources to support the Coast Guard Administration. He also called on Coast Guard personnel to strengthen cybersecurity defenses, stay alert, and resist any form of coercion or gray zone tactics.

Ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival, President Lai visited the Coast Guard Administration’s Second Maritime Patrol in Keelung on Thursday to commend officers and staff. After receiving a briefing and inspecting key equipment, he praised their dedication and outstanding performance, highlighting the essential role they play in marine conservation and maritime affairs.

With typhoon season approaching after May—and China’s gray zone intrusions occurring with increasing frequency—President Lai acknowledged that the Coast Guard’s responsibilities will only grow more demanding. He stressed the importance of safeguarding critical infrastructure and enhancing cybersecurity in the face of ongoing threats.

President Lai also affirmed a shared commitment with Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) to support the integration of advanced technologies, particularly infrared thermal imaging systems, to improve operational efficiency. He emphasized that the Coast Guard’s needs have been incorporated into the Cabinet’s latest special budget proposal, which includes funding for new vessels and infrastructure upgrades.
