Control Yuan Secretary-General Lee Chun-yi (李俊俋) has resigned following his misuse of a government vehicle to drop off and pick up his dog. Three other Control Yuan members were also accused of using government vehicles for private affairs. Following the acceptance of Lee Chun-yi’s resignation on Sunday, Control Yuan Vice President Lee Hung-chun (李鴻鈞) held a press conference this Monday to apologize for the oversight, and provide context to what had happened.
Lee Hung-chun explained that while the former secretary-general submitted his resignation immediately after the situation came to light, the vice president had asked him to stay and help improve the system first. He said a comprehensive review of the Control Yuan’s vehicle use was necessary, and that he suggested changing the criteria to match the Cabinet’s. Following the review, his resignation was accepted.
The three Control Yuan members who have been accused of also using the vehicles for personal matters have been transferred to the Control Yuan’s disciplinary committee for further review, explained Lee.
