Shares in Taiwan edged down in thin trading Monday, reflecting a strong wait-and-see sentiment in the market.
Many investors were less inclined to inject funds into the market with the approach of the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, which begins Feb. 18.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed down 34.68 points, or 0.36 percent, at 9,421.50.
