Presidential Office, National Security Bureau appoint new secretary generals

The Presidential Office and the National Security Bureau appointed new secretary generals on Thursday.

The new Secretary General for the Presidential Office is Tseng Yung-chuan, who has also served as secretary general of the ruling Kuomintang party. Meanwhile, former defense minister Kao Hua-chu has been appointed the new Secretary General to the National Security Bureau.

Vice President Wu Den-yih presided over both handing over ceremonies. Wu reiterated remarks made by President Ma Ying-jeou in his New Year speech, saying that this will be a year of social harmony, cooperation between ruling and opposition parties, and world peace. Wu said that the Presidential Office is an important body. He also said he believes that with his extensive experience, Tseng will definitely be up to the task.
