The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) has issued a yellow travel alert for China, Hong Kong and Macau over the Chinese New Year holidays. A yellow advisory means that Taiwanese travelers should pay special attention to their health and safety when traveling to a country.
The MAC issued a list of areas where Taiwanese travelers should exercise caution. These include the Chinese provinces of Guizhou, Yunnan, Jiangxi, Shanghai, Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Jiangsu as well as the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The MAC asked for those traveling to the listed provinces to visit the official MAC website for related information on travel warnings.
The MAC also asked domestic telecommunications companies to inform travelers visiting the provinces covered under the alert of the government’s 24 hour emergency hotline, so that the government can provide immediate assistance if necessary.
