Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je said that change for Taiwan must start from the capital city. Ko was speaking while visiting the Xingtian Temple in Taipei on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
Ko said that he has a special relationship with the temple. Ko was one of the early members of the preparatory committee in the construction of the temple. Dressed in new clothes prepared by his wife, Ko prayed for peace, prosperity and health for everyone in the New Year. He was greeted by crowds of people who scrambled to shake hands with him.
Ko said that he has also extended New Year's greeting to the department heads of the Taipei City Government through messaging app LINE.
