The 2015 Taipei International Machine Tool Show is set to kick off on March 3rd. The biennial event is organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), a government-sponsored organization which promotes overseas trade.

TAITRA said that the machine tool industry plays a crucial role in national economic development, as it produces items for almost all sectors of the economy. TAITRA also said that Taiwan is the third-largest machine tool exporting country in the world, ranking second to only Germany and Japan.

In 2013, the show attracted over 1,000 domestic and international exhibitors and nearly 7,000 buyers from 94 countries. It was the second-largest machine tool event in Asia and one of the top five international shows. The event this year is expected to attract a record high number of exhibitors and buyers, which will give a boost to the country’s economy.

In addition to the machine tool show, the 2015 Taipei International Cycle Show will also begin soon after the Chinese New Year holiday.
