Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je has received a death threat. That’s the word from the Taipei Police Department on Friday.
The written note was found Thursday afternoon on the second floor at Taipei City Hall.
In a statement issued by the police Thursday evening, officials said the note simple read "Mayor, I want to kill you." The note has been sent to a forensic lab for analysis. Extra police details have been assigned to ensure the mayor’s safety.
Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je says that he’s not worried because he believes that the police can handle the situation. The mayor said that the threat will not affect his Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
