Taiwanese fashion designer Shao Yen Chen on Friday unveiled his autumn and winter collection at London Fashion Week, marking his tenth showing at the prestigious event.
Chen said that his latest collection was inspired by the twisted body shapes and the stark expressive lines of paintings by Austrian artist Egon Schiele, who uses bold colors such as red, yellow, and black to express emotion. He also said in his latest collection, he incorporated design elements aimed at highlighting the lines and curves of the human body.
Presented under the theme “Flesh”, Chen’s latest collection features 20 designs that built on his signature combination of sporty and artistic creations. More than half of the designs showcase Chen’s expertise in working with knitwear.
Chen’s boutiques have been successful in Taiwan and China. He said he hopes to take his London-based womenswear label to fashion week events in New York and other European cities.
