Taiwan’s unemployment rate fell to a 14-year low in January. According to data released by the government statistics office on Thursday, the jobless rate last month was 3.71%, the lowest since February 2001.
The statistics office said the job market in Taiwan has stabilized on the back of global economic recovery. It also said that the unemployment rate has continued to fall since last summer.
Meanwhile, the statistics office said the average monthly wage of employees in 2014 climbed to a new high of NT$38,208 (about US$1,216). That’s an increase of 1.81) from the previous year. The overall average monthly wage, including bonuses and incentives, also rose to a new high of NT$47,300 (roughly US$1,506), a jump of 11.74% from 2013.
