Taiwan’s Enid Tsai has made Forbe’s list of powerful businesswomen in Asia. As the president of a machine tool company, Tsai was praised by the magazine as "advancing women’s leadership in the traditionally male-dominated manufacturing sector".
A total of 50 women from 16 countries in the region were included in its fourth annual Asia’s Power Businesswomen list. To make the list, candidates have to be active in the upper levels of the business world in Asia, wield significant power and have access to robust financial resources.
Forbes also identified 12 "savvy, ambitious women" in their late 20s and early 40s as "Women to Watch". Taiwan’s Mercy Wu, the president of Eslite Group, was chosen for her efforts in spearheading the company’s expansion in Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong. The Eslite Group owns a chain of bookstores, galleries, restaurants, department stores, and a boutique hotel.
