A cold front from China is bringing chilly weather to Taiwan. The front, which is moving from the north to south, resulted in lows of between 12-14 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan.

The Central Weather Bureau says that the weather system brought moisture, resulting in scattered showers in northern Taiwan, and in the eastern counties of Yilan and Hualien. Forecasters say there is also a chance of scattered showers in central Taiwan, and in mountainous areas in the south.

The weather bureau says that while temperatures in southern Taiwan stayed largely above 17 C during the day on Sunday, that was still considerably cooler than it has been in recent days.

Meteorologists say that the cold front is likely to continue affecting Taiwan into the early hours of Monday. The weather bureau is predicting overnight lows of between 11-13 C in northern Taiwan, and lows of 15-18 C in other parts of the country.
