Domestic air travel in Taiwan will be slightly cheaper starting on Tuesday. That’s due to a drop in international oil prices.
The Economic Daily News reported that for three months in a row, domestic airline oil prices had fallen below the threshold required for cutting the price of plane tickets.
The prices will be reduced for about 80% of all domestic air routes in Taiwan. The cuts average about NT$50 (or about US$1.60), which is just under 3% of the average ticket price.
One local carrier – Far Eastern Air Transport (FAT) – is offering the biggest price cuts. In particular, tickets for its route between Taipei and the outlying islands of Kinmen will be cut by NT$189 (US$6), which is 8.4% of the total price.
