Taiwan gives aid to refugees affected by Middle East conflict

Taiwan continues to provide humanitarian aid to war refugees affected by the conflict in the Middle East. Countries involved include Syria, Iraq, and neighboring countries.

Taiwan has been providing all kinds of aid to Jordan and the Vatican City. Taiwan is also working with the United States on related aid programs.

Taiwanese civic groups are also providing aid to those affected areas. Foreign ministry official Ray Mou said on Tuesday that those groups include the Tzu Chi Foundation, World Vision and the Red Cross Society.



“The Tzu Chi Foundation is mainly providing aid to Turkey and Jordan," said Mou. "The World Vision is helping out Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Red Cross Chairwoman Wang Ching-feng said her office is raising funds to provide everyday necessities to Syrian refugees.”

Mou the foreign ministry will provide assistance to those organizations if necessary.
