About 12,000 runners took part in a race down a highway in Taipei on Sunday. The run was the 2015 Taipei Expressway Marathon, which also included a 10k run.
Geoffrey Birgen of Kenya clocked 2:14:52 to win the men's marathon. That broke the race record by nearly a minute and a half.
Meanwhile, Ruth Charlotte Croft, from New Zealand, finished first in the women's division with a record of 2:51:25.
In the half marathon, Taiwanese runner Wang Chiu-chun won the men's event at 1:13:02, while Chen Wei-lin, also from Taiwan, won the women's race by clocking 1:26:10.
