Taiwanese director Yee Chih-yen's movie Meeting Dr. Sun has won both the Best Picture and the Audience Choice Awards at the Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan on Sunday.
Meeting Dr. Sun also won Best Original Screenplay at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival last year. Director Yee said that he was surprised that his movie also won favor with the judges in Osaka, and that he and his team will keep working hard for Taiwan’s movie industry.
Meeting Dr. Sun is a comedy about a group of teenage boys and their whimsical plans for escaping from poverty. The film examines Taiwan’s social inequality through young eyes.
