Taiwan’s top China policy maker spoke about a possible upcoming meeting with his Chinese counterpart at the legislature on Tuesday.
Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Minister Andrew Hsia said as cross-strait disagreements over the new Chinese M503 flight route were being worked out, a meeting may happen soon:
"About my meeting with Zhang Zhijun, I don’t think it will be as late as October and it could happen in April. We are still discussing it and it could work out to be soon," said Hsia.
Hsia said the former MAC minister’s meeting with Taiwan Affairs Office Minister Zhang Zhijun was postponed due to the controversy over the planned Chinese flight route M503. Taiwan has been objecting to the new flight route planned by China because it is so close to Taiwan’s airspace.
Hsia said since the two sides are resolving this issue, the two officials may meet soon after this problem is resolved.
He said there is much to discuss with China including the water supply to Kinmen, fishing boundaries and garbage issues.
