Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control (CDC) confirmed Wednesday that a Taiwan-based China Airlines flight attendant is infected with rubella.

The CDC said that it has informed the governments of eleven countries and that 1,558 travelers are being monitored for signs of the disease. These travelers were passengers on China Airlines’ Taoyuan-Fukuoka and Taoyuan-Singapore routes during the period from March 8 to March 14.

The CDC said the flight attendant may have contracted the disease during previous stays in Vietnam, Indonesia or Hong Kong.

The symptoms of rubella, also known as German measles, include fever, cough and a rash. According to the CDC, rubella is at its most contagious during the seven-day period after a person contracts the disease.
