Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez has thanked Taiwan for a gift of UH-1H helicopters.
During a ceremony held at Honduras’ national parade ground on Thursday local time, Hernandez presented medals to Taiwanese Defense Minister Kao Kuang-chi and each of the eighteen-strong assembly team. President Hernandez, Honduran Minister of Defense Samuel Reyes and Honduran Chief of Staff Fredy Diaz all thanked Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou for the gift.
Hernandez said that the first batch of three helicopters will be helpful to Honduras’ efforts to tackle crime.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Kao Kuang-chi said that the helicopters demonstrate the strength of Taiwan-Honduras relations and the close cooperation the two countries’ respective defense ministries enjoy.
The ceremony concluded with Honduran pilots circling the grounds in the new helicopters before flying them to their new base.
